On October
30, 1930 acting upon suggestion of Mr. N.W. Cowherd, editor
of the Cave City News, some thirty-five representative
citizens and businessmen met at a get-together dinner at the
New Hotel Dixie to organize a Chamber of Commerce for Cave
City. The need for such an organization had long been felt
and after an enthusiastic meeting, marked by the evident
desire of everyone present to help make Cave City a better
place in which to live, officers and directors were elected.
It was agreed that the body should incorporate under the
laws of the State of Kentucky and that the annual dues for
members would be $10.00 for business houses and $5.00 for
individuals.
The Cave
City Chamber of Commerce has continued to be an
important organization for the city. They work hand in hand
with city officials and the Tourism Board to improve the way
of life for the citizens of Cave City and to promote area
businesses at every opportunity.
